"We were excited about our night away but ended up really disappointed. The staff at the hotel were friendly but the room had a bad musty smell, like it was very damp (room 52). The building looked from the outside like it could be a leaky building. It was a freezing cold night and the heater on the wall didn't work properly. We did discover in the morning there was another tiny fan heater in the cupboard but I don't think it would have heated the room. We had our baby with us so I was disappointed about this. We picked the room because it had a spa bath but the spa jets were full of gunk. The only place to fill the jug was from the bath as you could't fit it under the bathroom sink. Everything in the room was tired and old. It had sky but only two channels, and didn't get prime or maori so we had more channels at home without freeview! Had to walk miles to get to the room and it didn't look like any of the other rooms were used much. There were spider webs on the neon lights. From Auckland, follow Highway 1 into Hamilton City. Country Comfort Alcamo Hotel is located on your left hand side of Ulster Street.
