Whangarei is just a two hour drive north of Auckland. Once you reach the top you have a wonderful view of the whole of Whangarei and the harbour. Alternatively, you can drive to the top by road.

Marlins are often caught on these outings and weight records broken at Tutukaka.
There are many great beaches and bays around Whangarei. Pataua, Oakura, Matapouri and Whananaki to name just a few. Pataua has great flounder fishing, and try digging for a few shellfish at these beaches when the tide is out.
