"We were scheduled to arrive at 11pm. The Lodge checked a couple of hours earlier (by phone) to ensure we were still coming. I confirmed once the ferry arrived in Picton, but said we were running at least 30 minutes late. Not a problem, the woman said. We were warmly greeted with friendly smiles (this was 2 days before Christmas and they must have rather been in bed), milk for a cup of tea, and instructions about where to park so we would not get disturbed in the early morning."
