"Perhaps if the floor in the bathroom actually drained to the plug hole, the bathroom wouldnt have smelt terrible and the floor wouldn't have been covered in a pool of water for the remainder of our stay after one shower. Not a great experience. Have stayed there a few times when it wasn't so bad, but one lift in operation and it moving at a snails pace for a place with that many floors is not really on. The second lift hasn't been working for months. They need to sort a few things out." Anonymous, 14 December 2011
"Clean and tidy, staff were awesome it was exactly what we needed for our night in Auckland." Lena Cooper, 7 November 2011
"Basically a very small backpackers room calling itself a hotel . Tiny room, had microwave but no plates or cutlery - two dirty cups though. Only one lift working to service housekeeping and guests checking in and out. Stairwell was locked on arrival and workmen, tradesmen everywhere. It was dry and warm and provided a good laugh and life lesson on what not to do and stay. So three points but call yourself a budget backpackers and charge accordingly and people who want that won't be disappointed." Not ever again, 13 September 2011
"There was only one operational lift which caused major delays getting to and from our room on the 9th floor. I had my four year old son with me and he wasn't up to climbing 9 flights of stairs every time we went out." Anonymous, 25 July 2011
"Room bit smaller than on website but overall very clean and tidy, with everything in the room required. Lift very slow which was a nuisance but overall a pretty good stay." Anonymous, 15 June 2011
"Great place to stay for its central location. Room small but good value for money. Has a hotplate, microwave and fridge. Ideal for an overnight stay, night club not a problem, was closed when we got back. Just stay at Outlaws till 5am!!!!!" Steven Turner, 1 June 2011
"The rooms are small but functional which is exactly what I was looking for in a Hotel. Great value in a sensational location. The only downside was the overly moody front desk staff at times." Mark Bradford, 19 April 2011
"very good value for money. Pleasant staff, very convenient location and a good breakfast. Comfy beds. No clitches in bookings. Only thing we could have wished for was air conditioning and Sky TV but would not expect this in 3 star. Special Offer accomodation so very well satisfied." Jill Hitchcock, 24 February 2011
"Good price, great location, small rooms but they have everything you need. Was fine for one person, but may be a be cramped for two people. The rooms could really do with some maintenance though - there were some pretty bad stains on the curtains and carpet that could be fixed if someone made the effort (room 302). The room was clean and tidy otherwise, so housekeeping is fine. Staff on reception were very helpful." Anonymous, 5 February 2011
"Although the internet wasn't working in my room and there was alot of sound from the street, for the price I paid to stay in central Auckland it was good. Both the facilities and staff were helpful" Melissa Barry, 4 February 2011
"I stayed there because of the location. The room was smaller than the photo. It had some kind of smell, which was not very nice. Most annoying thing for me about this place is the elevator, extremely slow as sometime I took 10mins to wait for an elevator to get to my floor (16th floor) and a few mins to get to the ground floor. I would not recommend for couples but maybe for young teenager who just need somewhere to sleep in town. I would stay somewhere else with slightly more expensive price for my next visit to Auckland." Max, 7 January 2011
"The room was dirty. A request to have old towels from previous guest removed was never actioned." Duncan Field, 14 November 2010
"It was a good basic hotel no major complaints, but did think it would have been good if the TV had better reception, also the shower water ran all over the floor in the tiny bathroom." Jo Knowles, 7 November 2010
"Perfect for weekend stays, would not recommend if planning to stay longer. Simple, and worth the money." Malia Siufanga, 4 November 2010
"The Hotel is pretty much Hostel standard, the only real difference being you get your own private room with shower/toilet,rather than the normal communal facilities one would expect in a Hostel situation. The room was rather worn (tired) looking and a bit grubby, stained carpet, old stained curtain which needed replacing, stained duvet inner on the bed, chipped paint on the walls. The bed itself was very hard and uncomfortable, you could feel the bed springs sticking into you at night.Pillows also needed replacing. No blankets or bedspread/duvet cover on the bed,and none supplied in cupboard.Found it a bit cold at night,as a result. The bathroom looked a bit grubby and I felt looked like it needed a good, proper clean. The whole room was in need of an uplift or renovation of some sort. However - given the cheap nightly rate,(you get what you pay for),which is why I mentioned earlier that I felt this Hotel is of a Hostel standard only.No crockery, cutlery, tea towel or pots/pans in room, even though there was a microwave and 2 ring cooktop stove provided.I thought it a bit cheeky (and a rip off) for the Hotel to charge $20 deposit plus $20 fee to rent these items for the duration of your stay,if you chose to cook your own food.To my mind, these items should be included in the kitchen as part of the nightly room rate, without question.Hotel Staff helpful, however, whenever assistance or help was asked for. However - given the state of the room (as outlined above), I will not stay at this property again." Anonymous, 16 October 2010
"All electric appliances were very dirty, just like that had never been cleaned.. (remote, fin heater, bedside lamp ...) Shower and bed were ok" Anonymous, 11 October 2010
"Everything was great. Only one problem, there are two clubs nearby and Thur/Fri/Sat nights there is loud music and people screaming till early morning. Very hard to sleep if your room is on that side of building." Mehr, 22 August 2010
"Room is too small and very noisy at night." Anonymous, 5 May 2010
"The hotel was ok for last minute booking. Location was not good being right on top of nightclubs. Otherwise just ok." Edward Andrews, 21 April 2010
"For the price we paid it was comfortable and clean very handy location" Patrick Thomas, 19 April 2010
"location was amazing, room was great for what we wanted. however noise and the heat at night time was pretty bad." Ann, 14 March 2010
"Excellent location!I realise added extras mean additional operating costs, but what is the point of having a kitchenette if there are no plates, knives & forks, washing up liquid, sponge and tea towel?" Alf Allen, 6 March 2010
"Clean, compact and convenient (and reasonably priced). Will use again and recommend to friends." Nikki Brown, 8 February 2010
"Excellent location, cheap, clean, en suite sufficient. But very disappointed to find out that we had to hire pots, pans, and cutlery and that this was not included in an apartment that had cooking facilities. Very misleading." Matthew, 28 January 2010
"Staff were friendly. Room was tidy, spacious and functional. Location was great although hotel looked like a cafe from the front. Walked past it the first time because of that." Anonymous, 13 January 2010
"Met our needs entirely. Budget accomodation for an overnight trip to see a concert at the Vector Arena. Location to event was superb. People helpfull and efficient." Chris Blunden, 23 December 2009
"Drainage in shower didn't work and the bathroom flooded. After the lifts were not working! A guy took us up 8 flights of stairs via the fire exit and the door to the 8th floor was particularly hard to open!" Sarah Abbot, 14 December 2009
"Great price. Clean. Bit of a matchbox, but cheap for those just staying a night or sightseeing in Auckland. Bathroom smelled a bit, mould on shower curtain." Katie, 25 November 2009
"Central and cheap. Friendly staff, cleaners were good. This is budget accommodation, it's no frills, but offers everything you could want for an affordable price. I had a double room with balcony, bathroom and kitchenette, my only gripe was that the room smelled like cigarettes as previous people had obviously been smoking from balcony or something. Yes the bathroom is small, but you have a hot shower right there whenever you need one. Central. Cheap. Good. Go." C Nicholson, 2 November 2009
"Value for money. Not the flashest but comfortable and clean room." Anonymous, 2 November 2009
"Very central, clean and friendly hotel. The rooms are compact to say the least but are perfect for a short stay. All the facilities work well and the ever friendly reception is always on hand to help out if there are any issues. When reviewers talk of the central location they really aren't kidding. This hotel is a block from the Sky Tower, and a very short stroll to all the main shopping attractions. However, with central location comes the inevitable noise of Friday and Saturday night. There is a (reasonably average) club next door but the doors to each room are pretty good at blocking out sound - even from your own floor - and if you stay on the upper floors noise is really not an issue. All in all an exceptional value hotel - just don't expect any frills without paying extra (such as cutlery or pots and pans for the kitchen that costs $40 to hire...)" Jacob, 10 September 2009
"Clean, tidy room, however other guest were very noisy playing stereos. Small rooms." Hannah Baylis, 2 August 2009
"Hotel is easy to miss when walking up Wyndham. Look for the small ovehead sign. Snuggled nicely between two shops and a couple of blocks from the waterfront. Queen st shopping just around the corner. Staff pleasant but distant. Room small but kitchenette handy. Shame about having to hire the utensils! A bit smelly but nothing a couple of insence sticks can't fix. The rooms seem to only get the superficial clean and my hope is that they get a comprehensive clean annually. At least that's what I suggested when leaving. Good value for the price." Karen Radcliffe, 27 July 2009
"Room was VERY small! felt like we were in a caravan. Broken toilet seat, broken heater. No tea/coffee facilities (have to pay extra for those). Yahooing and breaking bottles were heard to all hours of the morning as there is a pub directly below the hotel." Paul Knox, 22 July 2009
"Very clean, efficient accommodation. Fantastic amenities - why pay for 5 star when this is just as good? I spent over 100 nights a year in hotels and this is great." Jezza, 5 July 2009
"Hotel is well located with helpful staff in a clean and tidy state. Rooms were ideal for a quick stay and very good value. Would definitely stay again." Tony, 8 June 2009
"I stayed 2 nights. My room on the first night was next to the lift, very bad lift noise all night. Shifted for next night, no heater or washing machine. I asked for a heater which came only to not be working. Also very thin small duvet on bed and didn't know this until I got into bed after that night so too late to ring house keeping, shivered all night." Pam Simpson, 4 June 2009
"Very cheap and good location and pretty tidy so I loved it!" Masako Shinagawa, 24 May 2009
"We received exactly what we paid for, and more. The staff were kind and helpful, the view of Auckland was pleasant and the facilities were exactly what was required. The only possible faults I have was the TV occassionaly flicked to black & white. This wasn't a problem though as the room wasn't booked for the entertainment. Clean, cheap, modern and completely hassle-free." James Young, 20 May 2009
"Clean and compact accommodation, and a great location and a lovely view from the balcony. Well worth the bargain price and will stay again next time I am in Auckland. Thanks!!!" Christine Hammond, 13 May 2009
"For the Hop-in rate (better price than a hostel) it was the best choice for a private bed, shower and kitchen. All we needed, right in the city and clean. The few small complaints we had were solved by the friendly, helpfull staff (especially Steven)." H&J, 12 May 2009
"Very pleasant, great rooms, very friendly and helpful staff which made a pleasant change! Lots of different rates for however long you are staying too. All rooms are identical." Lisa Dixon, 12 May 2009
"Clean & simple but quite small. I stayed by myself for one night on business and I don't think I would stay there if I was in Auckland for a couple of days. Reception staff had no personality and didn't explain anything about the hotel. Not bad for the price but lots of room for improvement." Delicia Sellers, 25 April 2009
"Very cheap, small rooms, great location, lovely view. Not as clean as you would hope. More of a hostel than a hotel. For the price ($67) very good indeed." Anonymous, 25 April 2009
"The room we were given was at the back near the alleyway with a noisy bar. We asked for a better room on arrival but were told they were fully booked, but I had booked two weeks earlier. In the morning a different person was able to change our room for our second night, so the rating is a 2 not a 1." Stephen Aitken, 31 March 2009
"We had one receptionist that was very rude apart from that it was good." Lyall Sole, 25 February 2009
"Room was rather small, but for the price, I'm not complaining and room amneties were very good." Gary Chapman, 24 February 2009
"Loved the location of the hotel, right in the middle of the city close to everything. But you get what you pay for and no air conditioning or being able to call out from your room was a bit of a pain to be honest being that it was the middle of summer. The room is small but functional, but apart from a jug, iron and ironing board all you get is 2 mugs!! That's right 2 mugs no spoon, no utensils, no glasses, but wait you can hire all that stuff if you want.Internet connection costs are very very high and not enough information is given to international tourists from what I saw. The cleanliness wasn't the highest either even when I asked for some things to be cleaned they weren't. There was dust around the tv and smears everywhere. Lets be honest - its a budget hotel and no frills. You can lie on the bed and touch both sides of the room but in saying that its private and cheap. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, its a busy hotel so not always time to answer queries." K S, 23 February 2009
"Too small but it was cheap so it matched the price I paid, however I would not stay again." Anonymous, 28 January 2009
"Room had a bad odour but the view was great and the staff friendly." Justine Law, 21 January 2009
"Beds were rock hard, shower and toilet smelt bad and reception had dismal communication skills. Seemed like they didn't want us there. Would not go back there." Anonymous, 5 January 2009
"Excellent service and modern accommodation at an excellent price." Anonymous, 19 December 2008
"Staff were not very friendly. Room was not very clean, no hand towel or face cloth provided." Kirsty McNeill, 13 December 2008
"First time at a Formule 1 hotel. Adequate for what we were after. Bathroom could have been bigger and (because of the) design meant (that) nothing in there stayed dry." Gary Wade, 11 December 2008
"Excellent friendly service. Rooms claen and well-maintained, but be aware that as a budget hotel chain, all the usual extras like toiletries etc aren't provided. Excellent situation right in the heart of Queen Street, and a great price." Anonymous, 15 November 2008
"Great value. Very helpful staff." Matthew Pickering, 3 November 2008
"So close to the Civic Theatre, Victoria Market, cute rooms, great time!" Moira Nogat, 22 October 2008
"Fine but a bit cold. Could do with an extra blanket." George Salmond, 29 September 2008
"Well priced. Clean, good staff. I will be back." John McIlroy, 2 September 2008
"Staff very good. Room presented well. Toilet shower area a little small." Craig Johnson, 27 August 2008
"Excellent accommodation for the money. Great central location. Parking was cheaper than I expected. Staff were friendly and helpful. Accommodation was a little bit more battered than I had expected however, still good value and I would stay there again!" Larissa, 20 August 2008
"Value for money. Central." Anonymous, 20 August 2008
"Clean and tidy. Sufficient room for a night or two. Would have been cramped if I'd wanted to do any work, but that wasn't why I booked it. Determinant was price, location, privacy, and clean and tidy. Met all 4 - would happily stay again." Tim Carter, 18 August 2008
"Fantastic location in central Auckland, you can't find a better stay at this price. Rooms are small but have everything you need. People who give places like this bad reviews need to wake up! For this price to have a comfortable bed, 24 hour access, just off Queen Street and clean is a find." Anonymous, 10 August 2008
"Enjoyed my stay there even the room internet didn't work properly. Nice staff. Situated in the middle of the city. The hotel made me comfortable and felt like at home. Looking forward to go there again." Buddhimala Mendis, 2 August 2008
"The advertising say there is parking but fail to mention it is $36.60 for over night and $11.50 every hour. There is a stove top but with only 2 cups and two tiny spoons. It is convienent to go around city. Recommended for travellers with no vehicle." Anonymous, 19 July 2008
All Seasons Auckland Response: Firstly, thank you for your comments. Regarding car parking, we have a car park that is located behind the hotel which is $6 overnight on weekdays from 5pm-9am and $12 for 24 hours on weekends. You can purchase the tickets from reception for this car park and all staff know to promote this great parking deal. I am sorry if you feel you have not been directed to this car park as I am aware that the other surrounding car parks are relatively expensive. With regards to your comments about the kitchenette's in the rooms, they are basic facilities but we do advertise under the room description that catering kits are available for hire.Thank you once againNathan FrostGeneral Manager
"We were very happy with the service and will come back and stay again." Alma, 26 June 2008

"No condiments, cutlery or parking." Mr Castle, 11 June 2008
All Seasons Auckland Response: Mr Castle,Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us at Hotel Formule 1 Auckland. I apologise if you were misinformed about the crockery and cutlery at the property however as written in the room description, catering kits are an additional cost. In terms of parking we do have an affiliation with a car park located behind the hotel and I am disappointed this was not pointed out to you when you checked into the hotel. We look forward to seeing you at the property again in the future.Kind regards, Nathan Frost, General Manager
"Simple but clean, value for money, view of harbour bridge from my room. Corridor to room not that nice and a little smelly." Anonymous, 26 May 2008
"Bed was a bit hard, and a blanket would have been nice, but the overall stay, room and very helpful staff was great" Donna, 22 May 2008
"Was exactly as described. Cheap but clean and comfortable. Situated central to Auckland's busy area with Queen Street about a ten second walk away. Good hotel." Anonymous, 13 May 2008
"Very conveniently located and had everything that you would expect for the budget price charged. However a chair in the room would have added to the comfort for relaxing after a busy day sightseeing. I would be happy to stay there again." Anonymous, 10 May 2008
"During check in the staff member answered a call and then proceeded to ignore me. I went up to my room which at 3.30pm still hadn't been cleaned. I was given another room where the music was so loud between 12–4am I couldn't sleep. Reception staff clearly have no idea that they are a customer service function. I won't be staying again and I will recommend to our affiliate businesses that they don't either." Anonymous, 6 May 2008
"Comfortable and very convenient experience." Anonymous, 17 April 2008
