"Great service." Anonymous, 14 April 2012
"Room was great!" Victoria Oliver, 8 February 2012
"Pleasantly suprised after reading some not so good previous reviews! Room was spacious, clean, modern and pleasant! We had no noise issues at all. Staff were courteous and proffessional. Great position in the city to walk to theatre etc. Would definitely stay there again." Nicola Shirley, 16 March 2011
"Very pleasant, rooms lovely and close to CBD. Great." Angus Graham, 4 March 2011
"The stay was average at best with several issues which you shouldn't have to endure whilst paying for accommodation. The air conditioning unit was so noisy that it was hard to hear the TV and had no option of being turned down so it was either suffer from the heat or listen to what could be compared with a jet engine whilst you try and sleep. The sleep was interrupted at around 6.00am when daylight came pouring through wooden blinds that were broken, stained and in need of replacing with curtains altogether. There was absolutely no way of darkening the room and this was very frustrating. Also whilst in the bathroom and with nothing on but a smile there was a knock at the door and the maid walked into the room without even waiting for a response, I thought this was bizarre.Overall the feeling in the hotel seemed flat, the staff all looked unhappy and even the flowers at reception had given up living. It came as no surprise that I wasn't asked during check out if I had enjoyed my stay, it was as if they were trying to avoid the obvious.Overall the place was clean but very depressing, I wouldn't stay again but if ever in the area again I might try the park that I could see from my balcony as the derros down there seemed to be having a blast." David Watson, 9 February 2011
"2 adults an 2 children booked in but only sufficient crockery/towles for two unfortunately." Anonymous, 29 November 2010
"Bed uncomfortable... could hear everyone in rooms around even people flushing there toilets. TV did not work properly kept going silent. food wasnt that great for price" Anonymous, 21 October 2010
"very clean, great beds good service" Stephen Kramer, 8 September 2010
"Everyone is very accommodating, the rooms were great. I would highly recommend the Duxton to others." Charmayne Hood, 2 September 2010
"Plenty of services available, friendly and helpful staff." Anonymous, 11 August 2010
"Reception staff good. Allowed me to book in early. Room clean & roomy. A bit cold. Could update the way you access the web." Anonymous, 2 August 2010
"Wonderful staff member helped re-arrange our booking as I had selected Auckland not Wellington. Thank you so much. All the staff were well mannered, courteous and nicely presented. Hotel room lovely. Great location easy walking distance to St James. Great" Summer Rossiter, 11 July 2010
"Good location; friendly helpful staff; pleasant room all in working order." Anonymous, 16 June 2010
"Hotel is a bit worn and needs a freshen up,however was very impressed with The Grill resturant, great food and service." Ross Bates, 9 May 2010
"Thoroughly enjoyed the stay.Only change i would make would be the menu for the restaurant - wasnt all that great.Staff were very accommodating and friendly :)" Fiona Maskill, 12 March 2010
"Our stay was lovely, unfortunately only 1 lift was working and as we were on level 7 we experienced long frustrating delays. No complimentary drinks were offered on arrival, and no luggage assistance offered." Mr Reid, 3 March 2010
"very nice facilities friendly staff unable to give late check out but wiling to give extra parking for the day very positive and professionallly run hotel. internet expensive. charge for local calls." Matthew Steen, 23 February 2010
"When I arrived to check in they had not checked Ezibed confirmation correctly, they had us staying 3 nights insted of 4.The air conditioning unit was a free standing floor model, it was absolutely necessary for it to run the entire time we were in the room due to humidity warm weather. It was excessively noisey and left a large wet area in front on the carpet area." Alasdair Graham, 22 February 2010
"The hotel is fine however the oversight of not putting in a centralised air conditioning system at construction means that each room has it's own stand alone aircon. These are so noisy it is impossible to sleep." Noel Eichbaum, 20 January 2010
"Was a great tidy place, very roomy, would recommend and stay again" Justin Bibby, 23 December 2009
"was ok but only ok, not exactly flash and some of the staff were less than accommodating." Simon Gilmour, 17 December 2009
"What a lovely place, central to city. Fantastic staff. Great room and very comfortable surroundings. Recommend and would stay again." Selwyn and Marg, 13 December 2009
"Great reception and service, but frankly the room (Deluxe Spa Room) was very disappointing. The decor and furnishings were dated and tired, although the bed sheets were clean and tidy, it really didn't meet our expected standards for such a room. Thank goodness we only paid half price with ezibed or we would have demanded a refund! Spa bath was nice though." Wellington, 1 December 2009
"We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay as it was a birthday treat for my wife and quite a while since we had been to the City. The staff were courteous, unobtrusive and helpful. The facilities were of good standard, with the exception that the ironing board was broken and the bathrobes had lots of wear (Holes actually).I asked for a king sized bed and was rewarded with a very comfortable nights sleep. The complimentary drinks were very enjoyable and welcome, but to have to pay for parking seems a bit on the nose for a 5 star Hotel. The de luxe room was stretching it a bit I thought but at least it was spacious which is what we are used to at home.Overall pleasant and in a delightful street full of trees." Ian Scott, 26 November 2009
"Overall my stay at the Duxton Hotel Auckland was a pleasure." Cody Reddie, 18 July 2009
"A very pleasant stay and a good nights sleep." Ann Thomson, 1 July 2009
"Carparking poorly done. We had a problem finding a car park, didn't realise there were permanent tenants. When towels were replaced, only 2 instead of three so one of us shared. Surprised there was a single bed in addition to 2 queens as it was not needed, therefore took up room space for the three of us. I cannot understand why there is an additional extra adult charged when 3 adults didn't need the extra single bed, there was more than adequate sleeping." Richard Drakeford, 19 June 2009
"As an overnight stay for a concert weekend, I would maybe pick accomodation closer to The Vector Arena next time. Traffic and parking can be a nightmare, with buses travelling at a snails pace. Consequently, we opted to walk across town, which was great until the late night up-hill durge with tired legs. As accomodation goes, the Duxton deluxe twin room provides all the essentials, although slightly a little tired looking, i.e. tea stained cups, loose fittings, hit and miss T.V (kept cutting out) etc. The swimming pool was quaint, although barely two strokes wide, but with pleasant park surroundings. The staff were pleasant and efficient and I believe called the police when the local hoons cranked up an impromptu rave at 4am on the street out front. I've experienced much worse but the Duxton wasn't anything special." Lee Barlow, 20 May 2009
"The Duxton is a very nice hotel. Good location, room was very clean and well set out. Overall a great place to stay." Barry Mccracken, 13 May 2009
"Lovely accommodation and quiet setting just a bit from CBD. Liked the facilities in the room." Ailsa Shaw, 22 April 2009
"I ordered a continental breakfast for $19.50 and received no condiments with my toast, the wrong yoghurt and three slices of fruit which I thought was very poor. The shower also leaked all over the floor every time I used it. My bath mat and hand towels were taken away and not replaced. Assistant Manager Jordan was exceptionally helpful and well presented." Kelly Taylor, 16 March 2009
"The room was very clean. Staff very helpful. I would thouroughly recommend The Duxton Hotel.I really enjoyed my visit and would love to stay there again." Janette Hayward, 4 February 2009
"Room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Service pleasant and efficient. Good value. Steep walk back to hotel from Queen St!" Peter, Perth WA, 19 January 2009
"Everything OK. Nice, modern hotel. Better than expected actually." Philipp Wilde, 16 January 2009
"A very comfortable hotel with apartment-like facilities and attentive service. I will be staying here again." Hayden, 11 January 2009
"Rooms were well appointed but minor maintenance issues were a bit of a let down (however they were promptly rectified) otherwise a good hotel with courteous staff in a nice central location." Mike Down, 11 January 2009
"Very nice view and spacious room. Clean and tidy." Anonymous, 10 January 2009
"Internet was too expensive." Kelly Hudson, 12 November 2008
"I found my stay at the Duxton extremely comfortable. The staff were very friendly. Everything was there that we needed. The parking was cheap and very easy to go in and out when we needed to." Michal Pinkerton, 30 October 2008
"Really nice rooms. Great food and great staff. Overall one of the best hotels I've stayed in both in New Zealand and internationally." Jenny Grey, 22 October 2008
"Excellent location, very clean and pleasant surroundings. Was suprised at how spacious the room was, considering it was a studio and probably the most basic room. It was nicer than expected, very comfortable beds, great kitchen facilities. We were always politely spoken to, but accent of most who worked there was hard to understand. I had a package delivered there and they said it hadn't turned up, but I could see it on the back counter and had to point it out myself. Internet kiosk wasnt working. Those were the only issues, which are minor in comparision to the overall stay. I would definately stay again." Margot Ardern, 22 October 2008
"Very friendly reception. Quiet location for the inner city. Disappointed that advertised "hot tub" was spa pool conected to outdoor swimming pool and not private. Great breakfast." Anonymous, 23 September 2008
"We stayed for two nights over the weekend and we were very impressed. Reception were very accommodating and helpful when we needed directions and public transport and the rooms were maintained to a very high standard. We will definitely be using the Duxton again!!!" Nichole Brown, 23 September 2008
"Staff were very professional, helpful and discreeet. High quality hotel." Stephen Martindale, 16 September 2008
"Very comfortable and good service thanks." Graeme Anning, 1 August 2008

"Generally pretty good. Front desk when asked directions to the motorway wasn't very helpful but valet able to help." Anonymous, 20 June 2008
