"One room was not ready at 5 pm check-in - otherwise acceptable" Roberta Budvietas, 28 November 2010
"Central, can walk everywhere in Napier from here, good basic continental breakfast, big clean room with double bed, good heating, TV, free wireless internet - bonus!" Brad, 13 July 2010
"Right in the city centre and the managers were very pleasant! Good facilities." Ruth Lum, 8 February 2010
"Clean, comfortable and friendly." Paul O'Neill-Gregory, 25 January 2010
"Service was average. The breakfast was poor and the room tacky. Nothing like what it looks in the photos on the site." Paul Mathews, 16 December 2009
Central City Inn Response: Had we been approached at anytime in the 3 days of the stay' we would have responded to the concerns raised. We find it difficult to understand that a breakfast with 3 choice of bread, 4 of cereals plus fruit and yoghurts as well as bacon and eggs could be perceived as poor. The room was very similar to the photo on the website and as no concerns were raised at the time; again we are at a loss to understand the guests point of view.
"Room was very clean. Will stay here again." Floyd McGovern, 4 December 2009
"Slightly old fashioned. Very basic breakfast and ran out of cereal bowls." Anonymous, 26 October 2009
Central City Inn Response: Our continental breakfast consist of a choice of 3 cereals and toast, yoghurts, fruit plus fruit juice, a selection teas and freshly brewed coffee. This is included in the room price. A cooked breakfast option is now available at an additional cost.
"Excellent older facilities, clean room and services. The first night was bad as the noise from the drunk people going home after the night clubs closed from 1am to 4am was very loud and kept me awake." Naomi Seri, 23 October 2009
Central City Inn Response: Thank you for the positive comments about our hotel. As the managers live on site, we too are aware that occasionally in the inner city we get some late night street noise which is beyond our control. We are able to offer rooms away from the street if this requested on booking.
"It is great that breakfast was included in the price. The owners are very friendly." Di Geary, 7 October 2009
"Very Friendly staff. Good value for money. Comfortable room and size. TV reception not the best on some channels. Bathroom small but totally adequate. Would be happy to stay there again." Anonymous, 12 June 2009
"Wonderful very helpful in every way." Elsie Wood, 21 May 2009
"The owners were new last sept 2008 and realise there are a few things need doing around the place. However if they keep up with the great standard of service and helpfulness - they could not do enough for us - then they are on to a winner and we would definately recommend it and would go back again." Peter Milne, 4 March 2009
"Comfortable accommodation and well located. Room was a bit stuffy during the hot weather with little air circulation, air con would help. Room decor is a bit tired and car parking availability could be improved." Donna, 3 March 2009
"Helpful, friendly staff. Consideration given that I was staying two nights therefore was given a quieter room, and with bath. Much appreciated!" Helen Graham, 8 February 2009
"Very basic, but clean and comfortable. Good accomodation for under $100." Brent Weavers, 31 January 2009
"The room that we had had a few maintenance issues. The door on the shower needed fixing, the entrance door needed a safety lock, and one of the plugs by the bed had a hole in it, which was very unsafe. Other than that we had a lovely stay and the children really enjoyed the continental breakfast." Debbie Gatenby-Hinton, 13 January 2009
Central City Inn Response: As result of this review we carried out an audit of the safety locks and found that only 45% of our rooms had them. We are now installing them on all rooms. Our electrical maintenance work is on going and we appreciate any guest notifying us of matters needing attention.Showers are now being updated.
"Sour milk, loose, dangerous wiring - bulbs in room not working. All car parking taken and no other secure parking provided (it was a condition when booking the room)." Dave Clarke, 2 January 2009
Central City Inn Response: We have checked all websites on which we list. Our carparking is all OFF STREET and under CCTV. There was no request made for LOCKABLE CARPARKING by this guest. We have had the room checked and the loose screw on the light socket has been replacedGuest responses always drive us to offer better service.
"New owners very welcoming and friendly :)" Amy Watson, 26 November 2008
"Location great. Room clean and well presented. Pillows on the bed thick rubber - very uncomfortable. Breakfast a nice touch. TV reception poor on some channels. General ambience good." Sonia Wells, 12 November 2008
Central City Inn Response: Thank you for your positive comments. Our Housekeeping staff are proud of their efforts. We are checking the adjustments of the TV and aerial connections on a regular basis. The pillows are hotel standard orthopedic pillows. We now have softer pillows available in receptions for guests.
