"Have stayed here a number of times and was a little disappointed this time. We were surprised to find the room not cleaned and bed not made when we came back after being out for the whole day. It appeared that the wireless internet was not working - we tried two different laptops with the same result. The room looked clean when we arrived but the table surface had not been wiped as it felt gritty. We were charged for two nights but the bill only showed one night, apparently due to our late arrival on the first night. In the Colonial's defence, I did not consider any of these issues serious enough to comment on at the time." Tim Fraser, 2 February 2011

"Not the cleanest motel We have stayed in. The room was unvacumed when we arrived with a half empty lemonade can left in the room and the floor was dirty. The manager did get the cleaner to come back and clean the room, however the next day when we arrived back to the room we found that the bath had not been cleaned and the managers excuse was that as we were staying more than one day that he had been told by qualmark that in the interests of saving the enviroment that they should not waste water or chemicals cleaning the basin only, not the bath or toilet. The fan in the heating unit was also extremely noisey. Not a place that I will go back to stay at." Noel Jackson, 12 April 2010

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Colonial Lodge Motel - the accomodation and location were superb. There were only 2 areas that detracted from a top score - one was the staff smoking outside our room - the table by the pool was apparently the staff smoking area, but the smoke blew straight in our window. And secondly was the noise from upstairs throughout the night - we were in a downstairs room and someone was walking around above us until approx 3 am which kept us awake." Terry and Sue Poynter, 16 February 2010

Colonial Lodge Motel Response: Thanks for that. We have recently laid new carpet, new paint, New 32inch Lcd Tv's. Coming soon are new curtains and bedspreads. Then if the boss lets us, new bathrooms. Hope to see you again :)

"The motel is centrally located over the road from the lake, which is great for an early morning walk. Service was friendly and need for extra pillows was attended to promptly. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here. Plunger coffee to go with the plunger would be a nice addition." Wendy Jopson, 6 May 2009

"The stay here was the highlight of our trip to NZ, run by a very friendly couple who went out of their way to be helpful.
