*NEW* Customer Reviews of Amora Hotel Wellington (Formally Duxton Hotel)

"Very good room and service. Evening meal was a little sparce but overall experience was excellent and staff were very friendly and welcoming." Brian Hobson, 18 October 2011

"I would recommend Amora to anyone. Excellent service, fantastic food. Thank you for a great stay. Even my international guest enjoyed his stay." Tangaroa Energy, 6 June 2011

"Awesome room and bed was so comfortable. The only thing I noticed was what looked like a water leak in the ceiling about the sink and the bathroom...but it didn't interfere with the function of the bathroom. Great water pressure in the shower!" Nicole Murphy, 2 March 2011

"This place is getting old and time worn.. "Five Star it aint". Threadbare carpets in the hallways, aged decor in the room, cup 'rings' on the coffee table and an ancient television set (have they not heard of plasma TV's yet?). The continental breakfast is OK but the (overpriced) cooked variety is basically pig swill - very unappetising - and that's where most of it will end up." Robin Hughes, 8 October 2010

"Great location, friendly staff but the hotel is now getting old." A W K, 10 September 2010

"Place was very clean and tidy. it was looking a bit dated, and of all the places ive stayed at NO wine glasses?" Darryn Hughes, 7 July 2010

"The servive was outstanding, The room was a bit dated but cleaniless was very good, apart from an empty bottle under the bed.
We thoroughy enjoyed our breakfast in the club lounge with the great view and great service." Kathryn Horrell, 4 July 2010

"This hotel is getting tired and could use some redecorating, the couch in our room had torn fabric on the back and the bedside tables were heavily marked. There was a problem with a fan in the ceiling that made a lot of noise so we had to ask to move rooms. Overall service was good, the room we were moved to was an improvement." Anonymous, 11 June 2010

"Check in was organised and speedy, the room was comfoprtable, room service delivered promptly and pleasantly and valet parking equally so. It was much better than my last stay there." Dorothee Pinfold, 24 April 2010

"A fantastic night away, we loved our stay and would visit again without hesitation. Everything as described." Anonymous, 9 April 2010

"Good service, good cleanroom, good parking. Far better than some reviewers comments Need to upgrade TV and mini bar to 4 star standards." John, 3 March 2010

"Our stay at the Duxton was a good experience. Staff were always helpful and well presented, our room also got upgraded where we had the most awesome view of the Wellington waterfront!!! Our breakfast was yummy too! However the rooms need a bit of a makeover." Vanessa Baker, 24 February 2010

"I would have to say we were disappointed with our room, Booked as a "Deluxe Room" supposedly with city or harbor views. Our view was of the roof on the first floor, the expeller vent and the spotlight which shone all night. The room was not what I would describe as "Deluxe" Had to ask room service to bring us two wine glasses. Very basic and I would certainly not pay the full price recommended for the room. Don't think we would stay again and would definitely not recommend to others." Bev Flaus, 24 February 2010

"I appreciated the fact that I asked for two beds in room and that was realised. Room was perfectly adequate - nothing special but well worth the price. Loved the view over sea front." Julie Barnes, 29 January 2010

"Disappointed stay at the Duxton, the so called Deluxe Room was of very poor standard. Extremely dated and we felt that the cost of the room even the reduced Ezibed rate was still too high for the quality of the room. We have stayed in many other hotels for the same price and found them to be 100% better. The TV was only a 26" in shelving unit, there are not many hotels these days that do not have a large screen. The only saving grace was that the room was clean and the hotel was in an excellant position in the city." Marshall & Alison Wylie, 27 January 2010

"Really good. No complaints. Was worth going with the club room for the little extras. Great continental breakfast, good espresso. Staff were attentive and helpful." A Wylie, 12 December 2009

"Check in procedure slow and cumbersome. Couldn't find booking for some time. Unable to provide hospitality with refreshments offered at meetings in the comfy chairs in the foyer.
Thought more effort was being expended on rules and what suited the staff than the guest." Anonymous, 3 November 2009

"Waited at the front desk for 20 mins before being attnded too. Sheets had to be changed due to hair through them. Amazing view from 9th floor though and breakfast in the club lounge was great." Anonymous, 29 October 2009

"Very hard to see how the package was supposedly worth $700 per night - very basic room + breakfast + bubbly." Anonymous, 14 October 2009

"A very easy and comfortable stay. Hotel facilities great with helpful staff." Ray Edwards, 9 October 2009

"The staff were helpful, the place was clean, and it felt a great place to be." Sue Twomey, 25 March 2009

"Housekeeping did not fill up our tea and coffee supplementary box for the whole 4 days, not any improvement even after I called the housekeeping office." Jin Yan, 19 December 2008

"My husband and I were very impressed with the overall standard and service, as this was a treat for my husbands 40th birthday we would certanlly use this hotel again" Theresa Eder, 2 October 2008

"This was one of the worst hotel rooms I have ever stayed in; an internal room that was dark, drab and with no natural light. I have always stayed at the Duxton in Wellington and Auckland but have to say that if by booking on ezibed this is the room you get, it will be the last time I stay at the Duxton Wellington. The service and food were as great as always but the room was appalling." Michelle Beckett, 8 September 2008

Amora Hotel Wellington (Formally Duxton Hotel) Response: The Duxton Hotel Wellington has four non habour view rooms that are advertised when all other room types have sold out. This room type is popular when demand for accommodation in the city is tight and views are not as important as having a central place to stay. Thank you for your feedback. We acknowledge your comment and hope to welcome you back again soon.

"The room was an internal one that was dingy and dark - with no natural light - would have been really bad if you were just a touch clautrophobic. I normally love staying at the Duxton, but if that is the room you get allocated because you book on Ezibed (all three rooms booked with Ezibed were the internal ones on 3 separate floors) then that is the last time I ever stay at the Duxton." Anonymous, 8 September 2008

"The room was a little dated. The bathroom was great. Friendly service." Anonymous, 10 July 2008

"The room stank of stale cigarette smoke" Brian Scott, 8 July 2008
