"Clean and comfortable. Well located. Staff friendly and fairly helpful. Might have expected slightly more in room e.g. chairs and table for which there was space. Disappointment that one member of staff offered use of kitchen with dining area, retracted by another member." Derek Wiseman, 8 March 2011
"Walls were paper thin, could hear everything next door. bathroom was not especially clean and room was not very big." G.Williams, 16 February 2011
"This only gets a 2 because the staff were helpful. I wasn't even sure the room and ensuite were cleaned before I stayed. Small, manky and the very small tv wasn't tuned properly. Won't be staying there again." Anonymous, 15 September 2010
"Awesome but Halswell lodge need to advise that they are on a steep slope as it is a large climb up and down their drive way. I have back troubles and this was a huge issue for me. Elderly people would not cope, also not suitable for wheelchairs or walking frames." Clara Watty, 8 September 2010
"Very handy to the eating places, quick walk to Courtney Place for strangers to the City, only grumble was the shower head was extremely high for me, and my tall husband. regards Grace Byers" Alan & Grace Byers, 2 August 2010
"Great for an overnighter where proximity to town is your number 1 priority. Small room (and a short bed) but does the job. The staff member I met was polite, friendly and helpful and it was great to be able to park a large vehicle (Transit Van) with no problems." Kane., 23 June 2010
"Very clean, pleasant and helpful especially when I found the access difficult for my disability.I was listened to and assisted. Fantastic." Dorothee Pinfold, 4 March 2010
"Very friendly staff. The rooms were a good size. Everything catered for and for once we had a bed with no roll together. A good stay. A+" Samantha Eastwood-Williams, 27 February 2010
"Very friendly and helpful people in reception. Accommodation was clean. Very convenient location." Ian Campbell, 21 November 2009
"Hotel room was extremely small, but clean and comfortable. Good value if you just need somewhere to sleep, and a great central location. I would like to have been able to see the sky from my window, rather than a close view of the wall of the next-door building." Anonymous, 27 October 2009
"We enjoyed our stay. Friendly helpful manager." Andri Van Blerk, 26 October 2009
"Stayed in downstairs motel unit, found it very noisy when occupants in upstairs unit were moving around till late in the night. Otherwise great, no street noise and so close to town!" Anonymous, 11 October 2009
"Accommodation perfectly adequate, nothing flash but very convenient to town. Staff and proprietor very welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfast from Mojo's next door with fantastic Wellington hospitality." Rose Coveny, 5 October 2009
"Initially the receptionist was going to charge me for the full amount, including the deposit I had already paid to Ezibed.com. This was brought to the receptionists attention and was adjusted accordingly. In regards to the room - small (2.5 x 2.5 m) but ok enough for one person. Clean, tidy and most all, it was quiet - which was important to me." Gareth Pearce, 5 October 2009
"Great location for shows, shopping, and restaurants, and buses. Quiet in the lodge and off street parking. Housekeeping very average and bathroom needs repainting. Small room with no seating apart from the bed. Our door not locked after servicing. Overall reasonable for the price in Wellington but pretty average." Anonymous, 1 October 2009
"Friendly staff, a bit small and cramped." Anonymous, 14 September 2009
"Location great. Short walk to waterfront & city centre. Could've been a bit more spacious for the 5 of us, however would book again." Annette Barr, 27 August 2009
