"Perfectly fine...excellent location, no complaints at all about the room, immaculately clean, easy check in and out experience, would stay again!" Janice Arnold, 14 December 2009
"Great location! Nice room design and set up." Carolyn Cruikshank, 11 September 2009
"VERY VERY noisy. I telephoned reception at 3am and was told to complain to the manager later in the day but found that the Manager was not on duty on a Saturday! 3 other guests were also at reception complaining at 10am and I understand there had been several more complaints. I was told by staff that this is normal!!!" Patrick Dunne, 4 April 2009
"I was very disappointed about the lack of any space in the so called separate living area as there was simply none. If it states that it sleeps four, there should be four dining chairs. There was barely enough room to walk to the window/tv due to a large student desk dominating the whole space. I asked for it to be removed as we were four adults but they refused. To make matters worse the fridge did not work. Most disappointed and informed management when we left. Do not stay at the Oaks in Christchurch. They also failed to provide the drink vouchers as stated at the time of booking. I would like an opportunity to speak to some one in charge about a previous experience with Oaks in Auckland. This is the first opportunity I have had to "Rate My Stay"" Sandra Freeman, 2 April 2009
"Rooms & rates were reasonable. We booked a 3bdrm apartment and they kindly booked us up on the 9th floor as we had read terrible reviews about the street noise (which we could still hear clearly 9, floors up). The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. We still did have a few niggles though: - We had to pay $20 per day for secure parking, but the garage door was broken so it wasn't exactly secure! We were advised the master bdrm would be small, but we didn't realise we wouldn't be able to open our wardrobe and would have to shuffle sideways just to get into bed! (the curtain over the window actually brushes against your head while you're sleeping). Our 3 bedroom apartment was supposed to sleep 4, but there were only 2 chairs in a very small lounge with no sofa?? We were only supplied 4 towels for a 3 night stay and were expected to pay for further towels. We were only supplied 4 tea bags and 4 coffee & sugar sachets and 6 tiny pots of milk. They stated we would get 2 free dinks per night in the bar. They no longer have a bar so they send you to a pretty seedy gaming bar with only 2 bar leaner tables - definately not somewhere you want to take your children. Why don't they use the 'What' bar next door, which was lovely, clean & modern?? There is defiantely a reason the rates are so good, you get what you pay for." Paul, 25 March 2009
"We loved the location and the convenience. The 2-bedroom was perfect for our needs and we took full advantage of the kitchenette. The balcony was a bonus. Staff were helpful and friendly. Elevator was fast! Shower was excellent. Our only complaint would be the noise Friday and Saturday nights from Shooters bar next door which was so loud I couldn't sleep until they closed at 3 am! Thankfully they weren't open Sunday and Monday nights." Rebecca Pullman, 20 March 2009
"The only confusion was with using a Credit Card as down payment in the holding account, then again for the actual payment the following day. Out of the three rooms booked via my Credit Card, I was the only person who owned a credit card - such a shame actual money can't be used! Very clean, tidy units, in the city centre and pleasant personnel." Cheryl James, 18 March 2009
"Very convenient, clean and tidy." Sally Etherton, 10 February 2009
"Friendly enough at front desk but we requested a wine glass on the very first evening as there was one missing, but it never arrived. Very important piece of holiday equipment!" Stephen Archibald, 26 January 2009
"I booked a 2 bedroom apartment with my family. Despite being extremely small, the walls were very thin and we copped any and every bit of noise around. It was Saturday night and we were put in an apartment directly next to the lift and right opposite a loud night club that pumped until 4am the next morning. Once the music and noise finally stopped the street cleaner started and continued to make the night a nightmare. I travel a lot and have never refused to pay for a hotel. This time I did. When I explained my experience to reception at my 6.30am checkout, she was very aware of the noise problem and suggested I should have requested to be moved to a different room. The noise didn't start up until approx 10pm at which stage everyone including my 2 young children were already in bed for an early start in the morning. If aware of the problem, it would have been better to put us in another room from the beginning. I later rang the manager who agreed to refund my money. Great, but still out of pocket with the ezibed deposit. I wouldn't recommend staying there to anyone." Anonymous, 21 August 2008
"Everything was lovely except for the loud music from nearby nightclubs." Julie van Tricht, 12 August 2008
"The apartments are nice and central and nice rooms. The first room I was allocated in error and it had not been serviced or linen changed from previous guests." Anonymous, 21 July 2008
"We found the apartment clean and modern. Handy to city centre. Very compact but we hadn't intended spending too much time in the apartment. We would definitley stay in a Smartstay apartment again." Carole Parr, 17 July 2008
