"Room was above a night-club. No real sleep for 2 nights. Fire alarm at 2.00am. No assistance from staff for the elderly and the very young. 10 floors up is a long way to come down in an emergency." Michael Johnston, 30 November 2011
Ezibed.com Response: Very sorry to hear that Michael. We hope that the Mercure made up for the inconvenience!
"Feedback to Hotel re maintenance required Room 601: soap dish in shower loose . Bathroom wall paint & liner peeling above shower badly in one spot. bar fridge found to be open upon entry to room, water spill from door - perhaps just care required to ensure it is closd when re-stocking." Suzette Du Plessis, 6 April 2010
"Very accomodating staff." Ramon De Romas, 25 September 2009
"My stay at Mercure was great, the service from front office / concierge was brilliant, they were so helpful as it was my first time in Auckland. Hotel is very well situated. The only thing that I could say that there could be a bit of improvement on is the choice of channels on the TV, but I understand that this may be a cost issue." Jacqueline Diana Napper, 22 August 2009
"We stayed on the first floor and was awoken at midnight with loud dance music from the club next door. It continued until 7.30am. Consequently, very little sleep! When paying the bill the following day, the receptionist automatically reduced our bill by 50% as if she knew already. (Customer service with staff would draw a ten). It was such a shame, as the hotel is immaculate and had all the amenities that you would wish for at this price and level. I would stop there again as it is one of the cleanest I have stayed in Auckland. However, I would want to be somewhere else in the building." Kevin, 25 March 2009
"The bed was comfortable, linen clean and servicing /housekeeping was good. Reception staff polite and helpful. The room itself was tired and in need of refurbishing. There was flaking plaster and peeling paint in the bathroom, dirty marks on the walls adjacent to windows, makeshift repairs to the drapes and blinds. The carpet was badly marked and the beadspread was soiled. The in room internet connection was too expensive to be practical. I think it unlikely I would rebook this hotel as the cost was inappropiate for the standard of the room." Ray Weedon, 11 March 2009
"The room was a good size, but I did think the bathroom was a bit untidy. I had a work collegue satying an he was unable to take the lift all the way to his floor, and had to take a flight of stairs to his floor which was very odd and inconvienent." Anonymous, 13 October 2008
"This would have rated higher if it wasnt for the people in the room next to us who decided to have a party with friends in their room after midnight. I had rung reception about it and they said they would look into it. The people in the room next to us were quiet for a half an hour and then carried on also calling out in the foyer. I had filled in my comments on the hotel's own rating form and haven't heard back from them. I had ticked on the hotel's form we would go back, but not hearing from them or an apology or anything, I will not recommend friends or family to stay there. I think Hotels & Motels should not allow parties in rooms late at night when other visitors are trying to sleep." Judy Pore, 24 September 2008
"Clean & tidy rooms although was smaller than I expected. Lovely, helpful & informative staff. Ideally situated - close to various modes of transport, shopping & eateries. Very handy for visitors to Auckland City." Y Watt, 14 September 2008
"The room was small, but tidy. The girl who checked me in wasn't very helpful and had trouble understanding me (born and raised in NZ) and I think she double charged me when taking "an imprint" of my credit card. Not the best front end staff I have come across!!!" Anonymous, 19 August 2008
"Hi, I would rate parking as a problem as the fee is extra plus to get the valet parking and find somewhere to stop in Queen Street is virtually impossible. The hotel has a problem with a night club in the same building so we did not get any sleep; so I wouuld not stay there again. However the duty manager was charming and as helpful as he could be under the circumstances." Grace Wilcock, 1 August 2008
"A friend and I stayed one night in a room on the 6th floor and were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room, two double beds. The room and bathroom were clean and had everything you need. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. However, we stayed on a Friday night and were woken several times by voices from other rooms or outside the door - maybe I'm just a light sleeper or the walls are thin! The shower was also very noisy - screeching water pipes - but no issue if you were both awake when you showered and maybe it was just our shower. We booked online through ezibed and got a Winter Warmth @ Windsor special which included a great room rate, $20 meal/drink credit and 2pm check-out!! Overall a very beautiful hotel in a fantastic location on Queen Street - good security too. PS: When you check in they will imprint your credit card for the room and a $100 refundable bond." N Ferabend, Auckland, NZ, 30 July 2008
"Excellent location, could not think of anywhere better. In the centre of the shops and close to the viaduct. Friendly service. However, facilities not really worth the money. Internet very expensive." Anonymous, 19 May 2008
