"Very Small room & very expensive for what you get. Can get 5-star accommodation cheaper & much nicer that the Mecure - very disappointing." Maria Paterson, 23 February 2011
"Nice room, friendly staff ready to help." Louise Higgins, 15 November 2010
"Our stay at the Mercure Dunedin, got off to a rocky start, but turned out ok in the end. On our arrival, we were advised we can have valet secure parking @ $20 a day, or use street parking meters (very inconvenient). We consider $20 is expensive, and should be $10, but you don't have much option, as we were a captive customer. We were given room 512 after entering the room it quite obvious this was not a double room, it had a double bed, no wardrobe, no proper seating for 2 people. Once we had received our 2 suitcases in the room, there was no where to move. This room was a family room, with an access door to another room, and was suitable for a couple of children. I approached the duty manager and he changed our room to 515. This was a double room with a wardrobe etc, and is what we expected. Now on checking out, our bill included $10 per day for an upgraded room, I refused to pay this, after a great deal of thinking my refusal was accepted. Now having said all that, the location is good, bar/restaurant was very good. As a rating, had we been given the correct room, and reasonable parking rates, we would say 9 but due to the inconvenient circumstances, we will say 7.5." Allan Oakes, 5 May 2010
"Great size room! No fan or window in bathroom though so pretty hot and stuffy." Anonymous, 3 March 2010
