"Staff happily changed our room when shower was found to be broken. Room lacked temperature control one window covered with plastic panel to stop traffic noise and so could not be opened for fresh air or a cooling breeze." Marion Fournier, 7 December 2011

"Clean, tidy budget hotel which is a little difficult to drive to if you are unfamiliar with the town." anon, 16 October 2011

"Nice room, lovely food, very friendly staff. Thank you." Anonymous, 21 September 2011

"Very nice staff, happy and accommodating. Only one thing we were not happy with and that was the beer we bought in the bar was not cold." Shane Stokes, 9 August 2011

"Very efficient and friendly front desk staff. Room matched Ezibed description and was excellent in terms of cleaniness and functionality. Real bonus in Wellington is the on-site free carparking." Anonymous, 22 June 2011

"For the price this was a good deal - reasonable accommodation for backpacker prices. Wouldn't pay more for facilities." Katie, 11 May 2011

"Room quite small. No toaster or utensils apart from spoons. Also, quite noisy with the road down below." Anonymous, 27 April 2011

"Hard to believe it is rated 4.5 stars??" Catriona McLean, 4 March 2011

"Cot was not put in the room as requested but in fairness they did put it in the next night. They thought the booking was for one not a couple and a baby - should not be a room for a child at all - too small, no microwave, furniture edges not ideal for baby. Bed large and great. Advert of hotel does not reflect true experience - disappointing and we are not overly fussy individuals either. Parking car at hotel difficult but they did park it for us which was good but driving in was a bit stressful" Lisa Corsan, 24 November 2010

"Rooms were a decent size but not the greatest furnishings. Rather old looking walls etc, could do with a slight makeover. Nice enough bed and only there for one night so was good the price for what we wanted (i.e. a bed for one night)." HP, 23 November 2010

"Was not what they advertised! Instead of a queen or double bed we had two singles. The room was very small and the standard of everything was poor." Sharon Smith, 3 November 2010

"The room we had was large, very clean and tidy but somewhat dated in decor. The bathroom had limited water pressure for a shower, we had a large piece of board above our bed covering peeling/flaking paint or plaster. Our bed was very uncomfortable (I think two single beds pushed together). On a plus the swimming pool and gym were great and the staff very helpful and courteous." Anonymous, 20 October 2010

"Too cold and no extra blankets." Tim Goulding, 8 October 2010

"Didn't give a twin room as specified in the booking. Shower was useless and just dribbled out. Parking situation was poor, very limited parking next to hotel so was sent to a parking area in a funeral director although you couldn't get back to hotel to uplift bags because of 1 way street configuration." Anonymous, 5 October 2010

"Not that great actually!
Booking was made through you long in advance of travel. Not long after that I rang to request an earlier checkin time of midday which was agreed, however on arrival at 2:00 (we were late due to flight delay) the rooms were still not ready. The room booking had been mixed up by the Hotel, not Ezibed. Four (twin) rooms had been booked over one night instead of two (twin) rooms over two nights. Fortunately there was a room available on the 25th. AFter an hour waiting for the rooms to be ready spoke to Manager suggesting that it might be a good gesture to provide breakfast for us the next day, which he agreed, however this was not offered. There was no extra bedding in the rooms at all, you had to request extra pillows and blanket which we did. So I guess all this put a dampner on our view of the hotel." Robyn Sands, 1 October 2010

"Had noisy people in the room above us. They quietened down when we complained to reception, however, they came back in the early hours the following morning & were noisy again. Not a good sleep considering we were spending the weekend away from the earthquake aftershocks in Christchurch." Karen Fyfe, 17 September 2010

"Was a cheap room so I guess you get what you pay for. It had the basics and was warm, but certainly wouldn't pay more than the $88 per night we paid. Gym and pool were awesome!" Rachael Wilcock, 8 September 2010

"Was unhappy that Hotel says you get free parking and 30mins free internet, as what is not explained is that the free parking is subject to one being available, otherwise you have to park up the road (I did not feel secure leaving my car there), and the free internet is not available in your room you can only redeem it whilst sitting in the reception area.
Also, the hotel was more basic than I had first thought, and had I known I would 've paid the extra $30 to stay the James Cook or like hotel." Trish O'Neill, 26 August 2010

"I found the room clean and warm, good view over Wellington. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was great." Ngaire Young, 12 August 2010

"Room was nice, big, and clean." GEKGRL, 27 July 2010

"Apparently they are replacing the beds, but I got one that was not great, and I found the restaurant disappointing. Other than that it was clean and pleasant, the pool was good." Angela Britten, 22 June 2010

"I am totally disappointed as I booked a twin bedroom but there was only one double bed. The receptionist told me that they don't have twin rooms, despite paying for a twin room. I decided to let you know about this. The room was not cleaned properly and the bathroom was dirty. My infant had a bang on his head due to little space between the iron board and the door. So it was not safe place to stay. Above all the parking was very poor and there was a risk to hit another car." Muhammad Arshad, 6 April 2010

"Tidy & clean but very basic & non appealing rooms." Anonymous, 9 March 2010

"The staff were friendly and accomodating but the room was not particularly clean nor the building well-maintained." Anonymous, 5 March 2010

"It was OK. Was put in a room with dirty windows looking out onto the back of buildings and also next to the lift which was pretty noisy." Rebecca Escott, 25 February 2010

"Very central.Staff very helpful with car parking.Thought the bathroom needed a makeover." Wendy Bradley, 24 February 2010

"Really enjoyed our two night stay. Room had everything we needed and staff were very helpful. Thought the gym and pool were great also.Free parking was a bonus" Derek Finlay, 17 February 2010

"Very friendly reception staff helpful and efficient at their job. Our room was quite basic and looked very tired needed a fresh paint and a couple of arm chairs would have made it far more comfortable. Would have liked a separate shower unit as find it differcult to climb over a bath to have a shower. The shower curtain had pink mold around the bottom rather a put off. Who baths these days? The plug in the hand basin did not work so was unable to hold water in the basin. Although we walked into the city it was a tad further than we thought however there is a bus stop across the road. Not the best hotel we have stayed in but not the worst either" Anonymous, 16 February 2010

"We were pleasantly surprised at the location and quality of the hotel. Our twin room was clean and everything worked fine. Room service did not replenish the coffee or milk during our stay, but i'm sure they would have if we'd made an issue of it. I was impressed with the Gym and pool. We had a 8 minute walk to cuba mall. Great location. thanks Ezibed. would definitely book again." David McLean, 10 February 2010

"The standard of the hotel was fine but feel rather shortchanged when I originally booked the Mercure in Central Wgtn. We were consequently called by the Mercure Wgtn and asked if we could be moved to the other Mercure hotel. I asked where the other hotel was and was told that the Mercure Willis street was 400m from the centre of town - this was not true the Mercure Willis street we were sent to is a $14 taxi ride from the centre of Wgtn. This impacted on our costs for the week with nearly $56 additional in taxi-fares over the evening. We specificially booked the centre of Wgtn and to be moved with an untruth of location was unacceptable. The Mercure hotels in Wellington need to be truthful when moving people out of the centre of Wgtn to the other one - its at least 2-3km from the centre of town and not walkable easily up and down hills." Chris Milicich, 1 December 2009

"It was good. Further away from the Westpac stadium than I thought but overall the walk wasn't too bad" Anonymous, 19 November 2009

"Very good." Philip Lockett, 20 August 2009

"Our stay was good - only comments would be I had requested 2 single beds & when I went to the room it was 1 double. One of the next rooms alarm clocks went off continually on Sunday morning from about 6:30am until 8am until I went down to reception. It would have been a real hassle had I not been a usual early waker but all the same it was annoying." Bernadette Hetaraka, 20 August 2009

"Staff were all courteous and well trained and the service was exceptional. The down fall was parking. Would not hesitate to stay again." Dennis Greeks, 14 May 2009

"The room was slightly dirty on the walls and net curtains. When I put down the blinds the cord to pull them up again was right at the top of the window and I had to stand on a chair to reach it!! The food in the restaurant was bland and a bit of a rip off. Not all like the picture they display in the hotel. The road noise was bad. They could do with some double glazing on the road side. The staff were excellent. I will not stay there again and will not recomend it to people." Anonymous, 3 May 2009

"Vivian on the front desk was fantastic and gave us impeccable service. We didn't sleep as the room was very hot all night even though the window was left wide open." Greig Bainbridge, 23 April 2009

"Staff very helpful and polite." V. Labone, 30 March 2009

"Although a nice interior, the room was small, the food not great, car parking difficult and noisy location. Slippery floor in the bathroom area and I banged my head on the oversized coat hanger stand by the mirror." Andrew Scott, 23 March 2009

"Room, and breakfast fine. Hotel lobby very congested at time of check-in (tour party) and inadequate attendants on check-in desk. Overall though, enjoyed the stay - and would stay again. Road noise an issue." Anonymous, 25 February 2009

"On arrival reception were very friendly, efficient and accommodating. We were given free parking which was a huge bonus as we were at the end of our holiday and were feeling the pinch on our pockets.
Although the room was on the smallish side - we didn't mind because we got such a great last minute rate. The room was extremely clean, bright and had everything we needed....very comfy king size bed, a great plasma TV and modern furnishings. The hotel was close to shopping and restaurants and we had a fantastic dinner at the Hotel restaurant....it was a little expensive but lovely food, fantastic regional wines and worth the money. The waiter was extremely lovely, polite and provided great service. All in all we had a great overnight stay and would recommend this to anyone staying any amount of time." Joanna McGoldrick, 6 November 2008

"Old and rundown, bad part of town, no soundproofing so really noisy." Joanne Sherwood, 30 October 2008

"Staff were courteous and efficient, a bit noisy at night with sirens and traffic, possibly not good for a long stay. Good gym, alot of equipment, just needs a good clean." Ngaire Kawhe, 29 October 2008

"The front entrance is rather scruffy. Step entrance makes it difficult to get in with a large suitcase. Great gym and my requests were taken care of efficiently and pleasantly." Janet Saipaia, 10 October 2008

"We thought that overall our hotel room was very clean, towels and consumables were replenished on a daily basis, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay again, and we thought the cost was very reasonable with booking online.
Very Good." Andrew Perry, 2 October 2008

"Room: window needed cleaning, wine glasses not washed, a bit small
Dining Room: burnt toast, toaster faulty - good breakfast available
Service: no problems, good staff" Joy McBreen, 1 October 2008

"Clean comfy rooms - nice food - bonus to have free parking." Karl & Bonnie Menzies, 24 September 2008

"The reception staff were very helpful and friendly - excellent service. Breakfast had a great choice of food, was tasty and well cooked - service here too was excellent. The room was clean but missing the little extras that are usually present in a hotel room eg extra pillows only two on the bed. Even with the blinds shut the room was very ligtht making sleep difficult, however on the plus side the bed was really comfortable. We would stay there again." Trevor and Anne Williams, 19 September 2008

"Although reception had no record of our booking we eventually sorted this out and found the front desk personnel excellent. The house bar was out of action during our stay for a function and lacked atmosphere on the other night. As for the restaurant - give it a wide berth. The food standard was very poor and we accepted a credit on checking out. Overall we had a pleasant stay, enjoyed the gym facilities and found all staff very helpful. We will stay again." Anonymous, 3 June 2008

"Nice comfortable and clean rooms, very handy to town and convenient parking." Anonymous, 28 May 2008

"Modern, clean and tidy. Parking is an issue, and not enough blankets. Staff were pleasant and helpful." Anonymous, 21 May 2008

"Room very small - would have been very tight if set up as a twin. Could have had extra bedding as it was quite cold one night." Anonymous, 19 May 2008

"Poor housekeeping, not restocking stock including toilet paper, lack of parking, mouldy windows and drapes, spa not working, pool dirty." Fiona Iles, 13 May 2008

"Not exactly what was expected in view of discounted room rate, but worth the value paid for and suited our purposes." Anonymous, 8 May 2008

"Excellent staff, very friendly, professional and accommodating with a request for me to change rooms from the traffic side of building to the quieter side. Clean and tidy rooms." F Mackenzie, 22 April 2008

"Good value for money. Rooms a little small and slightly jaded, but quiet and comfortable. Staff helpful, welcoming and pleasant." Gates, 19 April 2008

"Did not use hotel facilities but comfortable place to sleep, and clean. Very convenient to walk to town. Lift not working on our arrival, so had to lug our stuff up 6 flights of stairs. View from room was good though. Staff friendly and helpful." Anonymous, 18 April 2008

"The room was ok. At the reception, there's nobody, you always need to ring. Internet is charged. No duvet on the bed, a bit cold during the night." Anonymous, 17 April 2008

"Not familiar with Wellington at all and service from reception was great. Helped us find where we could find the best local spots for eating and where the night life is. Facilities are well maintained and very tidy. Alot of space in the room and loved the mood there.
The only down fall I found was the lift. There was only one which everyone used so was quite difficult to get to your floor. Other than than it was great would recommend." Anonymous, 17 April 2008
