"Upon check in we decided to treat ourselves and requested for an upgrade to a lake view room. We were allocated a room on the 2nd floor, the view was totally blocked by the trees that were in front of the room. We were then reallocated to a room on the 3rd floor and again the view was not any better. If we had to pay a surcharge for a lake view room, I would expect to see the lake. Other wise, please do not market this as a lake view room. Then we were reallocated to another room, not lake view but it was a twin bed room although when making a booking, I specifically requested for a king size room. Was told by the reception that this is not guarantee and if I had wanted a king bed, I needed to pay a surcharge. Had no choice but to pay. Upon returning to the room after dinner, called reception for an adaptor, was told that they are not able to provide one at that time since it was 11am and had to wait till the following morning. Called again the next morning, called several times, before the phone was answered. Asked for an adaptor again, and was told that I had to come down to the reception to get it. Went down to the reception and waited in line since many guests were checking out. When my turn came and I asked for the adaptor and was told that they had ran out and none was available. If only the person who took the call earlier had checked..........." Mags, 23 December 2011

"Good facilities and cheerful staff but sloppy operationally. We were booked for 2 concurrent nights when our booking was for the Thursday night and Sunday night. The double/double room mentioned in this comment provides two double beds in the same room. Depending on the age of children we would generally recommend an interconnecting or adjoining room to more comfortably accommodate a family.

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside Response: Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is well set up for the four prominent seasons Queenstown welcomes. During winter, we do not encourage ski storage in accommodation rooms; however offer skiers a ski/snowboard drying room. Accommodation rooms are an average size and offer a range of bedding configurations.
"Rated as 4 and half star, recently refurbished!!! Our room was certainly not recently refurbished. Mould in shower, toilet seat broken/loose. Room key/card failed to work, no cleans towels when we booked spa pool, room had tea/coffee cups, milk but no jug!! It took 30 minutes for reception to locate one. Overall an experience I'd rather forget. Could go on but rather not punish myself any more - rather forget the place." Spencer Dhue, 25 June 2008
