*NEW* Customer Reviews of Racecourse Backpackers Hostel

"Good - good showers. Liked handbasin in room. Good price.
Bad - Half an hour to find someone to check in. Stained linen. Overpowering smell of mothballs in room. General impression of dossing in a junk yard. Would not repeat the experience." Anonymous, 17 March 2012

"Very basic accommodation. Seems like people have just put up some containers in the back of a car park to make a bit of money. Bathroom was clean though but sheets were a bit marked. Convenient for airport." Anonymous, 4 February 2012

"I know you cant expect much of a back packers but this place was very average. The room had an extremely bad smell of moth balls or something, that even a full can of toilet air freshener could not get rid of. Only stay here as a last resort. Room was 80 per nite, we nearly left to sleep on the airport floor instead even after paying." Rick, 12 January 2012

"This has to be the dirtiest back packers I have stayed at . The bedding stunk of BO in spite of what appeared to be cleaned but stained linen. The floor covering was very stained and dirty. The mattress overhung the old base on each side and was decidedly uncomfortable. The toilet was accessable only accross an open courtyard. If I had arrived earlier in the evening, instead of 11 pm I would have gone else where. The only reason I didn't give the lowest rating was due to the reasonable reception." Helen Morgan, 7 March 2011

"No way of taking credit card number for key deposit, so had to wake them at 5am to get deposit back. This is not a backpackers, it is a grubby motel. No hot water. Dog jumping all over me." Anonymous, 9 December 2010

Racecourse Backpackers Hostel Response: Taking credit card details is a standard practice for serious accommodation business and it is also a guest booking prerequisite for online booking systems. All facilities and security systems were at their optimal performance to ensure safety on the premise at all time.

"Basic accommodation but clean. Heater available in the room. Bathroom facilities good and close to room." Anonymous, 13 October 2010
