"For a hotel, this place was pretty nice. The room was large, beds comfortable, the common areas were pleasant and the location was great. The internet service is not worth it. We bought 2 hours worth of service but used up the MB allowance in 10 minutes just by looking at 1 picture and checking our email. There is a fridge but no cooking facilites, but that is standard for hotels. Bathroom was definitely adequate. I would probably look for cheaper options next time I end up in Nelson but if you have the money to stay in a nice hotel I recommend Rutherford." Alex, 12 January 2010

"Off to a bad start with front desk when I was "informed" that the cafe was closed over the weekend, and no tables were available (Valentines Night) for people staying in the hotel despite my standing there using crutches. However the Asst Mgr visited at my request, listened, arranged alternative satisfactory inroom dining and followed through on setting my dissatisfation to rights by informing breakfast staff of my needs." Anonymous, 18 February 2009

"The Rutherford is a rather tired hotel but still a pleasant place to stay and conduct business. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the accommodation is fine. There can be some strange smells in certain areas and the restaurant management (breakfast) could have been better but overall I was satisfied." Conan Power, 9 May 2008
