"The place was clean and comfortable. However it was a bit noisy, earplugs recommended. The reception we had tried to be friendly but was actually a bit chilly and almost sarcastic. Won't go back if it can be helped." Anonymous, 28 February 2012

"OK stay for an overnight stopover. Beds were comfortable and clean. Walls are thin and banging and squeaking doors were a bit annoying but we slept alright. Previous guests gear still in the room when we arrived but this was quickly and efficiently dealt with by friendly staff. Overall, adequate for the price." Alex Geary, 6 January 2012

We are glad you had a comfortable stay, we will work on the squeaky door problem.
The guest who left their gear in the room was on the understanding he was in for another night. We were heavily booked and he had his dates wrong on departure. We had checked him out and the cleaners left his property in the room.
We are glad we could accommodate you for a overnight stay, if you ever wish to use us again we are more then happy to up-grade you to a more quiet room if available.

"It was good but the shower/bath sprayed everywhere when turned on even when the shower curtain was pulled. I think that there should be microwave in the suite as it was annoying having to go into the kitchen. Couples want to be alone usually. Also maybe warn people of big groups before checking in?" Anonymous, 7 September 2011

"Not very impressed. Clean and tidy but that's it. We had a rotten day with car trouble twice did not get in to Taupo until 10.30 that night after being on the road since 7am could not even get a cup of tea as the kitchen was all locked up. The TV remote did not work. The air-con in the room was not working and all we got was people outside slamming car doors. For what we paid we can do better and have done better. Silver Fern Lodge Taupo Response: Hello, sorry to hear your stay was unacceptable. We have just taken over management of Silver Fern Lodge and have done improvements such as... Kitchen does not get locked. All TV's have been tuned in and remotes working. We also provide a movie channel now to each room. We don't have air-con but do have opening windows to all rooms with heaters?
We also have security cameras in carpark, and entrance ways.
We are not a 5 star complex and can not compete with them, we can offer a clean, affordable, secure and less noisy complex. We have noise control in place, especially to the large group bookings.
Now under NEW MANAGEMENT we accept all constructive feedback for improvement.
