"I was very happy with the room. I would have liked different lighting in the bathroom, as it was too dark for makeup, and the bed was a bit hard and needed one more blanket, but overall I have no complaints. We had two ligts bulbs out and only one bathrobe, but when we requested these be fixed and another bathrobe, they were attended to straight away. We will stay again." Alan Johnston, 2 June 2010
"Helpful and friendly staff. Very nice rooms with all expected extras.Only complaint - and shared by everyone I have spoken to - is the milk in the present packaging. "Skycity Hotel was great - good location with everything we needed in the building or very close. I did not think the room itself was worth its "normal" rate, but at our Ezibed rate it was great and we all loved our stay. Auckland turned on the weather for us and we enjoyed being able to use an outdoor pool and sundeck in the middle of the city! And watching the skyjumpers zip past while we swam." "Really enjoyed our stay. Nice, clean efficient room. No hassle booking. We also were having a beer in Aces bar after returning from the Warriors/Knights game when an intoxicated man felt the need to get abusive. My wife approached a security man, Patrick Dick who called another tall man who diffused this awful situation with the most professional and efficient manner in record time. "The food and service were not good. We sent back a meal at the Ming Resurant and then had room service which we did not find that great either. We ended up carrying our bags to and from the room and they never told us our car was waiting outside until we found it out there. We were not made aware of the 'bond' on the room and had to give most of our spending money for it and ended up having to do nothing all night. "Apart from the Doorman Brian who gave excellent service our stay at Skycity was somewhat disappointing. Long delays with car valet despite paying the $30 per day charge. No newspaper after putting out the door sign in plenty of time. Long wait at check in. Had to call security at 1am due to loud noises / party going on in the courtyard. Couldn't get a dinner reservation despite booking 30 hours in advance (can accept that it was a busy weekend). Average room. Guess we expected a bit more going on the reputation of Skycity." "When we arrived at Skycity there was nobody to collect our bags, we had to bring them up from the car park ourselves. Our heater was not working so we called reception for them to have a look at it. 45 minutes later a maintenance person came up. "Thank you. We had a very lovely stay at SkyCity last weekend. Just a couple of things though, 1) We would've liked to have been closer to our friends who were at the hotel too (I did put in a request on the booking form) & although we were on the same floor, we were wings apart (rooms 308 & 376). 2) We were given a suite with 2 queen beds rather than the king which our friends in 376 had. Only minor but overall the facilities, restaurants, entertainment was what our weekend was about and it was an enjoyable experience. Credit also to the staff in the Atrium Bar and Casino, excellent customer service skills, although reception & checkin were a bit icy. "Location for this hotel is excellent. The fact that there are restaurants, coffee bars in the hotel complex was helpful as we were traveling with kids so used both. Rooms are basic standard and it has all the marks of a high volume hotel that moves people in and out. However saying that if you are looking for good location, clean basic rooms then go for this. We got what I thought was an excellent rate through Ezibed ($175 NZD) for a room with two double beds, so no complaints on that front." Anonymous, 17 April 2008

"When we turned up to check in we were given a letter that said we were intitled to a free bottle of wine, valet parking (which we didnt use) and breakfast to the value of $40.When we went to check out we were then told we had to pay for the wine and breakfast because we were not supposed to get the letter.Now although we got the bottle of wine and a pass to get our car out of the carpark i was not happy about having to pay for the breakfast which was in the latter we recieved.Although it was a mix up on their end i dont think blaming the trainee and making us pay for this was fair.I think the organisation needs to get this right so it doesnt happen again and not use the excuse that there was more than 3 other people with the same surname checking in on the same day."
