*NEW* Customer Reviews of Taranaki International Village

"Is a fair hike out of town (about a 25 min walk). Note that drop off back to the airport is $20 cash with TIV or $22 with Scott's Airport Shuttle (not 'about $35' which is what I was told at TIV reception). Room was clean but rug was stained, kettle had to be used on floor as cord didn't reach little table/desk. Nice bed linens, nice soft smooth pillow case." Frances S, 24 March 2012

"Apart from cockroaches in the room - but when we complained it was dealt with - this was good value for money." Gillian Upson, 21 March 2012

"A few years ago we stayed in the red block and it was good. This time we stayed in the blue block. It seemed shabby. There was nothing in the kitchen and the office person didn't bother saying we could use the equiped kitchen in the red block. The toilet paper ran out. Terrible pillows. We wanted something more convenient than camping for WOMAD and this was fine for that. So handy I would go back again." Anonymous, 21 March 2012

"Good, basic room for a good price." Kerry Rhodes, 19 March 2012

"The reception was not open as advertised on the website. A note was on the door stating the return at 5 pm. This note was there from before our arrival at 3pm. Unfortunately the reception only open at 5.30 pm. On checkout again the reception was closed. Apart from really bad reception attendance the room was basic but really good, large enough and clean. The other facilities were also of good standard." JR, 9 February 2012

"The room was nice. The staff were helpful." Tali, 24 November 2011

"Very clean room, basic but suited my needs well. Slightly noisy from tenants but not too much of a problem. For the price would definitely stay again." William Watters, 1 November 2011

"Very good and clean. staff was accommodating. The only issue I could see was the operators had a large dog. While this was not a problem for me, I could see that it could be for some. In fact, i had my ault sister with me, an she was very scared of it. Need more teaspoons." Anonymous, 25 October 2011

"Units were nice and clean. Good value for money accommodation." Roger Greenslade, 7 September 2011

"Very clean, warm and service was prompt." Vicki Kingdon, 5 September 2011

"Our stay at Taranaki International village was short but very pleasant. We had a bit of trouble when we arrived because no one was at reception but when we called the number on the door someone arrived shortly. Our room was clean and neat and had all the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay." Amelia Hall, 1 July 2011

"Very impressed with everything given the price. A great cross-over between a hotel and a hostel with the best of both i.e. ensuite bathroom, fridge in room, but also shared kitchen. Very accommodating hosts too." Sarah Wood, 8 June 2011

"We were warmly welcomed. The room was fine but would have appreciated some teaspoons for stirring the tea or coffee in the room ." Mary, 3 May 2011

"The check in was smooth, the room was exactly what I expected and the general cleanliness was fine (apartment from the duvet cover - it was filthy)." Tina Blackbourn, 6 April 2011

"very noisy, ants, simple furniture, not really clean. Communal kitchen was very dirty. I will never stay there!" Werner Kreutz, 9 March 2011

"Perfect for a one night stay. Reception unfortunately not manned all the time which meant we could not check in at the agreed time." Elizabeth Welch, 8 March 2011

"The place was over-promised and missed our expectations. The listing did not say it was part of a dormitory block at a polytech. Very basic, no views and a very small en-suite. The shower had some hair on the base, some spots on the duvet covers." Derek Roux, 2 March 2011

"Great value. Just what we required why pay for extra frills when we only needed a bed and bathroom. Good location for our requirements and will use again. Have already recommended to others. See you again." Bernice Towler, 10 February 2011

"Friendly and helpful staff. Nice ensuite. Clean. TV with remote.
Good central location in the city. Great if you're there for a concert at the Bowl or a cycle race from the Racecourse. or anything in beautiful Pukekura Park- eg Festival of Lights, Rhodadhendron Festival...
Could do with a fan in the heat of summer as it was a bit stuffy.
Also a bedside lamp.
PS: Don't use the shampoo & conditioner - ugh, your hair will look like you used soap!" H & A S (NZ), 9 February 2011

"Very noisy both nights. No kettle for hot drink, which was advertised. Pots where rusty and dirty and the kitchen was locked on Sunday morning, could not get hot drink @ 8 a.m. The basin plug was not working The room was neat and tidy." Bryce Stilborn, 2 February 2011

"Facilities ok, but the environment was crap. Groups of permanent students seem to run the place with their parties and their abusive language to all hours of the night. Felt sorry for the couple of families." Don, 2 February 2011

Taranaki International Village Response: It is very disappointing to hear these comments from a person who started abusing other guests first for no reason.
We are a international facility that caters to ALL international travellers. It is sad that some Kiwis find it hard to interact with Indian communities and foreigners, were trying to welcome international travelers to our country.

"A great welcome and very good value for money." Val Webb, 2 February 2011

"Very tidy and modern facilities!" Henry Claasen, 29 January 2011

"Nice and clean. We needed to move furniture so we could plug the TV into the power. This made the aerial wire too short, and it was obvious that others have had to do the same.
Apart from that a nice easy chair in the room would have made it all that much better." Alex + Tracy Stewart, 10 January 2011

"Awesomest place for the price you pay. If you are looking for luxury it isn't you, but if you want a bed a shower a toilet and cooking facilities it is great. I will be definitely recommending this place and going back. The hostel manager David was choice and understanding :) Residents are extremely friendly!" Karine Levy, 9 January 2011

"The room had a few ant problems but was being dealt with - however I rate the staff and the long stay people very highly.
They were lovely and even though I didn't know anyone they included me in, will be back and will recommend to anyone" Catherine Cox, 4 January 2011

"Modern and tidy but bland and noisy guests. Very cheap though!" Anonymous, 3 January 2011

"The accommodation was great for a backpackers/hostel type accommodation. The rooms were very clean, bedding fresh, great towels, & wonderful smelling soap. The shared kitchen (as often shared kitchens are) was not clean and we had to wash dishes before every meal to get clean ones. The only other negative was that it was impossible to fill the jug in the room to boil for hot drinks (apparently there were stations on each floor) and also the constant hot water erns in the kitchen are were not working. Overall though very good. Would be happy to stay there again." Anonymous, 3 November 2010

"Excellent friendly staff, warm rooms and the fact you have your own shower and also mini fridge is just the business, also no check out time at the weekend which is amazing, means you can sleep off the hangover, a dream come true if you plan going away and only 15min walk from all the bars etc..recommend" Luke Colleran, 16 June 2010

"Nice place at a good price. Was great having a shuttle service available to get us in and out of town, a bonus!
Found the room cosy, however, coudn't find how to control the heating (visible radiator wasn't going) and the room got incredibly hot during the night which was quite uncomfortable, and had to open both sets of windows." Amy Fairhurst, 16 June 2010

"The hotel doubles as a student residence, but it was still quite clean and comfortable - nicer than I expected for the price. Think of it as a high-end hostel.

My only complaint is with the directions; I spent almost half an hour trying to find the place. 20 Bell St. is actually the address of the college at the end of the road. Drive onto the college campus and take the road down to the bottom of the hill. After the road curves left, the hotel will be on your right hand side next to the large parking lot." Jon from Canada, 19 April 2010

"Accommodation is more basic than suggested on website. Fridge, Kettle and TV provided but no hairdryer - caught a few people out. No hot water AT ALL by 9am. Walking distance from town - not for everyone, more than 20 minutes brisk walk to town centre, where I think 5 minutes was stated on the site. No extra blankets, and only one full size towel provided for two guests. we were pleased to get a room at all for Fleetwood Mac, but this is converted student accommodation, not a regular motel which I think should be clearer on the website." Anonymous, 24 December 2009

"The room was clean and tidy with every thing we expected. The staff were friendly and informative. The accommodation was walking distance to the event. Would stay again." Douglas Hays, 24 December 2009

"The room was good and well maintained. However, it was difficult to find the location. There was an indicator however it was a little vague. The indicator should have arrow mark to point in the direction of the location." Edwin DSouza, 22 December 2009

Ezibed.com Response: We have audited the location and feel that the indicator is in the right position.

"Unit very clean and tidy. Comfortable." Tina Simpson, 28 October 2009
