"Friendly helpful staff.Old world hotel style with a modern slant. Quite interesting.Central and convenient." Anonymous, 23 April 2012
"Average standard. My room had two packs of ear plugs. I found out later it is because of a noisy bar right underneath. I stayed early in the week so the bar was not open. I am told later in the week it is hard to sleep, even with the ear plugs. Had I known I would have stayed somewhere else. Rooms need some attention." John Hart, 2 February 2011
"Beautifully restored building (well, renovations in progress but did not worry us). Room 101 must be the Queen of rooms: biggest I've ever seen, we hardly knew which chair to sit in; everything we could possibly need, and some things we didn't. Best was the hospitality of the staff. All were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely dinner and terrific breakfast. Car was parked right under our eye. The ancient lift scares me a bit, but not our luggage, and taking the short flight of stairs was good for me. A wonderful experience on our holiday!" Roslyn Cairns, 8 May 2010
"Booked a Suite and when we got to the hotel 30 minutes later - no suites were available. Standard room was adequate but elevator was antiquated and if you didn't close the doors (by hand) - no one else could call the lift! Major renovations were taking place in the Gaming & Bar areas and to have a drink you needed to leave the hotel and walk round the corner to what I could best describe as a barn with 8 tables (leaners) in it and a bar! Gaming room had 20+/- machines and only 3 people in there at 8pm. Bar had 8 people sitting at the bar and staff seemed more interested in them! Disappointing stay!!!!!" Carl Buckingham, 27 February 2009
"The location was good, the service was very helpful." Ryan Ma, 10 January 2009
"The hotel is very conveniently placed in the centre of town, but is a little old. For example, the lift is a museum piece, and the carpets in our room were rather stained. Otherwise the amenities were adequate and nothing was lacking." Alan York, 15 December 2008
